The FIBRO Roundabout

Time to get off this roundabout forever

Because the stress of having Fibromyalgia can make symptoms worse having hypnotherapy sessions can make a real difference to your life. As a Clinical Hypnotherapist based at Golden Grove Family Health I see many people who ask me if Hypnosis can help with alleviating the symptoms and dealing with the stress that FIBROMYALGIA can cause.

If you hav ebeen diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, you may be looking to find ways that you can help yourself with the issues that it causes. The feelings coming from subtle changes in the neurotransmitters of the brain, causing the oversensitivity to pain signals and most likely a great deal of mental stress and anguish. Hypnotherapy could give you some much needed relief, and could also help with other sypmptoms such as Fatigue, IBS, Headaches, Concentration, Fibro Fog, Dizziness, Fluid Retention, Numbness, Tingling, Itching, Cramping, Allergies Chronic Fatigue, feeling tired all of the time, struggling to motivate yourself

Because stress plays a major part in Fibromyalgia it is important that your mental health and well-being is looked after. With any pain issues we often find ourselves feeling angry and resentful..Thinking “Why me?” and this can make the pain worse for until those feelings are addressed.

Hypnosis for Fibromyalgia – Clinical Studies

Hypnosis is known to be one of the best alternative therapies in alleviating the pain of suffering. The National Institute of Health in the US conducted a study showing that Fibromyalgia sufferers who used hypnosis to manage their symptoms reported 80% fewer painful episodes as opposed to those who did not use hypnosis. In the UK NICE The National Institute for Clinical Excellence have approved Hypnosis for many years for a great many illnesses.

In 1991 The Journal of Rheumatology published a study which took 40 subjects and gave half of them hypnotherapy and the other half physical therapy. Those who were given hypnotherapy saw ‘significantly’ better outcomes than those who had only been given physical therapy.

Hypnosis can be used to alleviate many of the associated symptoms experienced by sufferers allowing them to better manage the frequency and intensity of flare ups.

How can I help you help you with Fibromyalgia Hypnotherapy?

When working with me we can teach you how to let go of any anger and stress that can make the pain worse and even learn how to turn down and control the pain. Often just being able to speak with someone who can understand and offer a helping hand helps before even getting started on therapy.

Many people find that Fibromyalgia often develops after a very stressful or traumatic experience. Hypnosis can deal with the root cause of the problem which can then clear the way to a clearer mind and aid recovery. Learning to let go and think about the future you want really can really help. When addressing the co-existing symptoms like anxiety and stress, hypnosis can help you to feel better and more equipped to deal with Fibromyalgia as you learn to take control of the condition and manage the pain. Learning a positive approach can make a real difference to the long term prognosis. Hypnosis can be used to enhance the quality of sleep which in turn can improve fibromyalgia symptoms as the body requires rest to heal. Hypnosis can also influence the autonomic nervous system which can enhance mental and emotional peace by enabling you to take control of their condition and helping yourself.

Teaching someone with fibromyalgia to control their own pain using self-hypnosis can allow them to take control of their own life and by empowering them it puts the person in a more positive frame of mind. As fibromyalgia can be a very distressing, debilitating condition affecting the quality of life and lifestyle of sufferers it can lead to depression, therefore, it is important that the mind is healthy and hypnosis can help with this.

You can be shown relaxation techniques which can be used to control breathing using the imagination to expel the pain and breathe in fresh, revitalising, energising air. Visualisation techniques can aid with developing coping strategies to decrease symptoms and improve your

lifestyle. These techniques have been proven to be very beneficial in aiding the person to manage their condition and lessen the severity of the symptoms.

In conclusion, whilst hypnosis is not a cure for fibromyalgia, it can certainly alleviate the symptoms experienced, giving the person control of their body and improving their quality of life.

Learning to let go and relax can make a real difference to everyones life
